Fast Food, Etc. – My New Food Review Blog!

For the past couple of days, I’ve been trying to think of a focus for a blog I wanted to start. Hunger Is the Best Chef has been a great place for me to share my culinary adventures, from reviewing places that I go to randomly to writing recipes of my own cooking. But there was something missing, a specific direction, rather than writing about my musings that are based around food.

I’ve been trying to think of a way to classify the food court at New World Mall in Flushing, NY. I wrote on my Facebook page that I had the goal to review all the eateries there. But what reason is there to do that? Where’s the purpose? If I included it on this blog, people who are interested in reviews of places similar to the eateries at that food court would not know that I have a wide selection available in this blog because it is jumbled with my random food thoughts. I wanted a special unique place for these food reviews. A place for me to learn how to properly review food. A place for me to connect with those interested in what I eat. A place for people to actually gain value from the reviews.

That’s when I came up with the idea, on July 20, 2013 at 4 AM when I randomly woke up. I couldn’t fall asleep but I thought, and thought. The best ideas really do arise at the most random times. I debated whether to get up and write the idea in my journal so I wouldn’t forget it. Part of me wanted to try to go to sleep. Part of me knew that I’m forgetful and I would lose this million dollar idea. So I pulled myself out of bed. Turned on the light as my eyes twitched and squinted from the ungodly brightness. Pulled out my journal and wrote. The idea soon began to develop. The more I wrote the more it took form.

Fast Food, Etc. – http://fastfoodetc.wordpress.com/

Fast Food, Etc. is a place for people to learn where they can get the best food for their their time and money. You know the saying, “Time is money!” And it’s true. I love being treated to a nice restaurant but sometimes, I want my meal to come quickly and to not break my wallet. But I don’t just want a processed burger from a fast food chain. I won’t mention any names but I’m sure you can think of some chains.

This will be comprehensive guide from the perspective of someone who usually relies on places where food comes quickly and affordably. A college student is a prime example. I hope to bring in friends to help me create this guide. I have developed a rubric to explain my reviews, which is available on the blog. With each review, there will be pictures and I hope to develop my skills with my DSLR to bring delectable images to you. Let’s make it cool to bring your date to an eatery.

Why the title?

People in my generation usually rely on the traditional Fast Food chains. Let’s rethink fast food back to its origins, food that is cooked, well, fast. There is an entire world of food in the etc. portion of this blog’s title.

Let’s rethink fast food and define the etc.

In order to entice you to come, below are some pictures of food I’ve taken for the new blog. Hope you find them delicious. If you like what you see, there are more pictures on the new blog and you get a better view if you click on the pictures to see it in full size.

Looking forward to also seeing you at Fast Food, Etc.!

Shrimp Okonomiyaki with chips. Unfortunately, I didn’t write down the name of this vendor. But I want to say its name started with an O.
